Roids or Not, the Guy Can Rake

Much to the joy of Team Stockel -- A-Rod homers in his fourth straight.

  1. It sure is nice to "own" him for the next 16 1/2 months. The guy is a historically great hitter. That's part of what makes the steroids thing so frustrating with him. You just have to ask: Why?

He is still only hitting around .200 in his limited at-bats since coming back from the injury. It's going to take some more time for him to adjust considering this is still basically his spring training. But man, when he actually makes contact, he is absolutely tremendous.

ARod + the new Yankee Stadium = success for Team Stockel.

  2. That New Yankee Stadium is really something else. It is amazing how the ball gets out of there to right field. Like it is on a magic carpet. Imagine what the Babe would have done in a band box like that! And its not even hot in New York yet.

The Stadium itself looks pretty impressive on TV, though. As does Citi Field. Looks like they did them right, with enough amenities but not too many gimmicks. Are you going to get to be up in New York anytime and see them?

You know what other field looks amazing on TV: Kauffmann Stadium. The renovations make it look like a beautiful minor league park on steroids. (Okay, poor choice of words for baseball.)

  3. I agree that Yankee Stadium and Citi Field both appear to be top notch. I would hope that Yankee Stadium is a jewel considering how much it cost to build (over $1 billion). I do find the tributes to Jackie Robinson at Citi Field to be a bit odd, but he's certainly worthy of it. Just not sure I really understand the connection to the Mets. Shouldn't they honor Strawberry and Gooden instead? Hmm, maybe Jackie was a good idea after all.

We don't have any plans to make it to NYC this year. Looks like July 2010 will be our pilgrimmate to the "Baseball Cathedral in the Bronx." That's what Michael Kay keeps calling it anyway.

I also wholeheartedly agree about the new Kauffman Stadium in KC. I'm also a big fan of the Royals uniforms. Similar to the Dodgers and Maple Leafs, I just think the white and royal blue combination is a great one. When you throw in the fountains and the great new scoreboard at Kauffman Stadium, it really works well. Kansas City is impressive like that. Both Kauffman and Arrowhead are older stadiums, but both still considered to be top notch.
