The Golden Pipes of Bob Costas

Dodgers and Cubbies tonight on The Network. Called by the esteemed duo of Bob Costas and Dan Pleasac (who I think does an excellent job on MLB Tonight). Costas calling a Dodgers game brings back the memories of those old playoff series that were on NBC.

As an aside, it is interesting to note that the Dodgers have not lost when they play on the same day that the Lakers have a playoff game. Wish I could say the same thing for the Lakers.....

  1. A very enjoyable game last night on MLB Network. I could listen to Costas call a cockfighting event and it would be riveting. Juan Pierre just continues to rake. Unbelievable.

Did you watch any of Quick Pitch after the game? Vasgersian was interviewing David Cone about his perfect game, time with the Yankees/Mets, and some other random topics. Vasgersian asked Cone which pitcher he really respected and enjoyed watching these days. His answer? Roy Halladay, of course. Cone said he tries to be unbiased when announcing games for the YES Network, but he finds it difficult to do when Halladay pitches because he enjoys it so much. He described Halladay as having "Mariano Rivera's cutter, Bret Saberhagen's curveball, and Greg Maddux's sinker." Not bad.
