Prediction Time

Some people see sports as a beacon of opportunity. Win or leose, there is almost always a next game, a next season, a next chance to prove you are good enough. I am not one of those people (at least, not this week). I see tonight as another chance for the Lakers to break my heart, kick me in the stomach, and stomp on the remnants of my Fandom. But that's just me.

Prediction:

Rockets 98

Lakers 104

  1. I fully expect the Lakers to come out motivated and angry. I see no way a Rockets rotation consisting of Brooks, Artest, Scola, Battier, Hayes, Lowry, and Wafer can even keep this close. Hell, the Rockets will use a 6'6" D-league veteran at center for many minutes tonight. No way they go into Los Angeles and win a pivotal game in this series with that crew.

    Put me down for:

    Rockets 82

    Lakers 98

But, as they say, that is why the play the games.

  2. If the final score is 98 - 82, I would virtually guarantee a Rockets win. No way L.A. wins without scoring at least 100. I am telling you, I have a bad, bad feeling about this game.

  3. You worry too much. I would put serious money on the Lakers to win tonight - and probably cover the -12. We'll find out soon enough!

  4. See, I told you that you worry too much. The team the Rockets are playing with now is basically a lottery team. Brian freaking Cook got minutes last night. He hasn't played a meaningful minute in two months (and arguably the entire year).

If the Lakers don't finish them off in Game 6, I'll be incredibly disappointed. This collection of misfits shouldn't be able to stay within 15 points of L.A., even at Toyota Center.

  5. Matt, it is a good thing you became a lawyer instead of a sports handicapper you were only off by 34 points. However, I think that would still count as a win in nuclear bomb betting.

Now let's get it done again on Thursday and move past thug life Artest and on to thug life Kenyan.

  6. Okay, so I let my emotions run amok in my prognostication. Clearly I would be welcomed in by all the sports books in Vegas.
